One World Flag Intern Update
March 3, 2000
(updated on Feb. 19, 2003, to reflect address and administrative changes)

Hello,

I am writing to all who have written to express interest in interning and/or volunteering with respect to the One World Flag within the past year.

There have been a lot of changes in this time period. With this letter I am prepared to re-introduce the possibility of us working together if the following coincides with your interest.

There is plenty to be done, and much fun and satisfaction to be had. And I hope you will decide to come aboard!

First off, any internships and/or volunteering work are virtual. This means that time may be devoted from wherever you are, by way of e-mail and other means. There are no in-person, in-house, live-in positions available at this time.

The purposes of this are many. It is in primary alignment with the mission of the flag to get people communicating with each other from all over the world, and taking the message out locally… wherever that may be. There is no public office here in Kansas out of which people can work. There are no current provisions for coordinating lodging, transportation, employment, etc. The time it would take to handle these kinds of details is instead being spent working on the many projects in the works. And anything that can be delegated, can be done so just as easily via computer, e-mail, phone, and fax.

Setting up the interns and volunteers in such a way is meant to serve as example on a small scale… of that which we wish to achieve on a large scale.

This website ("http://www.oneworldflag.org") which was updated in February, 2003, explains some of this. If you haven't visited for awhile you will see that things are moving!

What I can offer is this:

* Tasks that appeal to many interests. These include, but are not limited to--

  • networking
  • writing press releases
  • writing grant proposals
  • translating the One World Flag website into your native language for posting on the website
  • giving interviews as a One World Flag spokesperson in your native country
  • writing articles
  • taking pictures
  • adding additional web support-- technical, design, otherwise
  • and more. If you have specific goals (to practice or to learn), we will do our best to accommodate you and make this a valuable experience.

* Training in the writing and speaking of the mission and goals of the One World Flag.

* Ongoing support, and adapting your work with this oprganization to suit a wider purpose afterward.

* Documentation of your experience, and a letter of recommendation, and/or completion of paperwork you might need for school credit.

* Rewarding work, with a team of like-minded individuals from around the world.

Together we will design a program that you love! We will schedule tasks/goals/deadlines. I will help you with anything you need to achieve these tasks. And we will have ongoing follow-ups, critiques, question and answer, and honing of skills as needed.

Thus, this work can be undertaken by you, at your own pace, on your own schedule.

This program is truly the purest form of individualized study-- and may be taken on by disciplined, highly motivated, self-starters and adventurers.

You have responded to the idea of possibility inherent in the mission of the One World Flag. You know deep inside what is available for all of us… as we begin working together to achieve higher objectives.

Let's begin working together to-- "Honor the Talents, Abilities, and Uniqueness in Each of Us, as Strengths that May Benefit All of Us" "…because we have more in common as a world, than we have differences between nations." Let us begin to "Think Bigger!"

Let's get started!

I'll hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

David Bartholomew

P.S. If, in my delay in pulling this program together, I have lost you to other causes, I hope you will still receive my thanks for your support, continue to "fly the flag" wherever you are, visit the site to keep up with the progress, subscribe to the newsletter, and stay in touch with me.

In case you wonder who you are and where you are from. You represent people like--

Ivana Vrhovski, Croatia, Karim Filali, Moroccan, Anna Lastochkina, New York, Bhavani Fonseka, Anna Charchoghlyan, Texas, Cindy "Miao" Zhao, Chinese/Chicago, Christelle Protin, San Francisco, Kim Warfield, Christina Hendrix, Arizona, Jan Elsner, Germany, Telmo Freitas, Missouri, Jeffrey Griffiths, Luxembourg, Sharine Barlas, Ai Koshizuka, New York, Michelle Chen, Misty Briones, California, Alicja Kazmierczak, Vanessa NesSmith, Florida, Linda Akerlund, Tomas Larsson, Sweden, Cassio Giometti, Brazil/California, Stephanie Rojas, Ejiofor Franklin, Yasushi Inoue, Japan, Mayur, United Kingdom, Daniel Johnson, Australia (I included home/residence countries as I had them in your e-mails).
