The One World Flag

-- by David Bartholomew, Feb. 16, 2003

Hello All and Greetings from the One World Flag,

Saturday, February 15, 2003 may come to be remembered as the day that began a world peace snowballing effect. Millions worldwide were out in force across many countries, on many continents (please follow link to wire service story below). The numbers stand to be astronomically higher as people marched in out of the way places that haven't been factored into the world totals. Here in my hometown of Lawrence, Kansas... THOUSANDS turned out on a below-freezing day, with winds at 30 mph.

Positive effect IS being achieved. Those inclined to buy the "company line"-- the first words out of the administration and corporate media mouthpieces-- are having time to reflect and reconsider the justness of this proposed war... and other policies that have been hustled through the pipeline.

As we are able to slow down this rush to war and these "watch the birdy", "push through legislation when people are otherwise occupied" tactics... the spin-meisters and sleight-of-hand magicians are being seen for what they are-- emperors with no clothes!

Do not believe any minimization of the totals of intelligent and thoughtful citizens that expressed their peaceful views this weekend. Do not believe polls that artificially inflate President Bush's approval rating or that of his war plan. Those of us who have stood in the cold... those of us who pray in our homes... those of us who embrace all the possibilities and benefits of a world view... know the number in our ranks.

As we shine more and more light on their shadowy and questionable presence, this president and his minions are seen more and more for the impotent ones trying to overcompensate for their inadequacies, the greedy ones trying to line their pockets, than as those who represent any "majority", by any definition, of this nation and those of our (former?) allies.

Feel proud and powerful. The smallest light in a pitch black room overcomes darkness.

Regards,

David Bartholomew

For as long as it lasts, here is a link to a wire service article detailing world turnout for peace on Feb. 15, 2003:

Millions worldwide march against war with Iraq
By the millions, peace marchers in cities around the world united behind a single demand: No war with Iraq. In Rome, between 1 million and 3 million people turned out, according to police officials and protest organizers; in London, between half-million and 1 million; in Berlin, a half-million.
